hola. (that's spanish for hello) :P haha.
so- as of late, the team has been doing some different fundraisers to get some money towards the trip. we have helped park cars for Canada Day at Pittock, hosted a BBQ in front of Zehrs and served at Boston Pizza. It's been a lot of fun and we've recieved a lot of support at these events from friends and family (including our Large family at Huron Park church). Thank you to everyone who has come out for a $1 hot dog (not a bad deal!) and just to say 'hello!' It doesnt really seem like much but it is actually quite encouraging. :)
From these events, we have raised over $1 000 which is fantastic and of course really helps offset the cost for the trip.
Right now, I have about $350 that still needs to be raised but (with the fear of sounding cliche), I know that God will provide.
As a group, we have also been doing bible studies and discussion to get ready for the trip- I feel like the preparations and fundraisers alone have been fun and I've learned a lot about the people who are also going to Chicago... and we havent even left Woodstock yet!
As the trip nears, I am looking more forward to it. People asked me earlier in the month if I was excited and looking forward to the experiance and I was, but it's becoming... realer (i suppose)... as we learn more about what we are doing and how we will be impacting others.
Well, it is time for bed... but keep us in mind and let us know that you are keeping us in mind so we can thank you... and keep you in mind :) haha. good night!

The beginning.
Hey everybody!
so... i just edited my letter that i am sending out for support... i will explain a little bit about the trip to give some background info.
Ok, so the Chicago Missions Trip 2009 is a mission trip that I am taking with a 3 leaders and 3 other teenagers from my youth group at Huron Park Baptist Church. We are leaving on August 1st and will return on August 9th.
In Chicago, we will be helping with various service projects around the city with about 80 other young adults from all around the continent. Some of the stuff we may be doing is; leading various kids camps, assisting seniors or helping with more physical work around the city. We will be very immersed in the urban lifestyle as we are staying the gym of a school downtown. (That should prove to be interesting, as all of us going are used to living in the country or a small city.)
On the way To and From Chicago, we will be visiting several churches and hopefully helping with small projects around there.
well, that is all i am going to write for now, as it is almost tomorrow and there is much work to be done! thank you so much for your interest, and i will keep you posted! :)
